Marian Gaebler
Full Stack Developer (React/Node/AWS) from Hamburg. — 15+ years. I understand your problem before I code.
I've been building software since 2009, and freelancing for SaaS start-ups since 2020. My principle: Good products come from understanding, not velocity. I engage with users, topics, and team — before the first line of code is written.
What my clients get:
- Seniority that sticks. I've known the Hausify SaaS platform since 2018 (first at Protofy, since 2021 as a freelancer) — I ship changes to seven-year-old code quickly and with low risk because I helped shape the architecture.
- Domain discovery before implementation. At B&P Cimplify, I worked out the contract management module together with the in-house retail domain expert — before we built anything technically.
- Agentic coding with a brain. MCP, Claude Skills, and context engineering are my tools to understand better and decide more clearly — currently at EnBW for an internal AI platform pilot with a single-handedly built Azure landing zone.
15+ years across agencies, start-ups, and enterprises (including Deutsche Bahn, EnBW, Immonet).
Experience
Full Stack Engineer
EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AGSingle-handedly built the full Azure infrastructure (IaC, CI/CD, security) for an internal AI platform pilot at EnBW. End-to-end ownership within a corporate environment with strict governance requirements.
For an internal AI platform pilot at EnBW (users from Contracting, Finance, and Supply Chain), I grew into the platform engineering ownership. I built the entire Azure setup single-handedly – embedded into EnBW's existing landing zone and governance framework – using Infrastructure-as-Code with Azure Bicep (Cosmos DB, Azure Functions, Static Web Apps) and a consistently secret-less security architecture based on Managed Identity, Entra ID with custom roles, and Key Vault. I introduced a previously non-existent multi-stage CI/CD pipeline in Azure DevOps from the ground up – with artifact promotion between stages, automated quality gates, and SonarQube integration. Architecturally, the platform relies on event-driven patterns (Azure Event Grid) for asynchronous data processing and on an MCP server behind an APIM gateway for standardized integration of internal AI tools. For developer experience, the team established a monorepo setup with pnpm workspaces, Turbo, Biome, and Vitest, together with spec-driven development and devenv-based onboarding. Development happens end-to-end in agentic coding mode with Claude Code – from IaC through backend services to the CI/CD pipeline.
Freelance Software Engineer
B310 DigitalContributed to three open-source educational apps (kits.blog) used in schools across Lower Saxony — focus on GDPR compliance and accessibility.
On behalf of B310 Digital, I contributed to open-source applications of the educational platform kits.blog – an initiative by the Lower Saxony Institute for Educational Quality Development (NLQ) that is in production use at schools across Lower Saxony. My work was distributed evenly across three projects: a fork of Excalidraw with a custom collaboration backend built on NestJS and Socket.io as a GDPR-compliant replacement for the Firebase-based original – a requirement driven directly by data protection rules for the school context; PictoSearch, a React app for searching and customizing pictograms for augmentative and alternative communication; and StopClip, an Ionic/Angular app for creating stop-motion videos in the classroom. Coordination with NLQ ran through B310 as an intermediary. Focus of the work: accessibility, GDPR compliance, and maintainability for the public education sector.
Senior Full-Stack Engineer
hausify GmbHLong-term full-stack ownership of a property management SaaS platform (React, Node.js, React Native). Code continuity since 2018 — from agency project to freelance engagement.
Working as a freelance engineer for Hausify GmbH since 2021 – responsible for a production SaaS platform that supports property managers across the DACH region in digitizing property and communication management. I have known the platform since 2018 from my agency days at Protofy, where I co-developed early Hausify modules – this long-standing code continuity allows me to ship even complex changes quickly and with low risk. The scope of responsibility covers end-to-end ownership across frontend (React, React-Admin, Material-UI), backend (Node.js, TypeScript, Open API), mobile app (React Native), and cloud operations. Within the core product, I conceived and built in particular the administration area and a ticket management tool used by both property managers and their back-office staff. Through consistent use of agentic coding workflows, I can deliver changes across the full stack efficiently and under control.
Senior Software Engineer
B&P BergmannpartnersBuilt a SaaS platform for commercial lease portfolios in retail. Owned the core contract management module, developed through close domain discovery with the in-house expert.
On the B&P project Cimplify, I contributed as a full-stack developer within a six-person team (five engineers and one in-house domain expert) to building a SaaS platform for managing commercial lease contract portfolios in retail – replacing the Excel-heavy workflows still common across many retail chains. My focus was on the contract management module, the platform's core feature. In close collaboration with the domain expert, I ran domain discovery sessions to translate business requirements from the retail space into technical specifications. Implementation was done with Remix, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL on an MVC architecture. During my time on the project, the platform was still in its build-up phase ahead of the first customer rollout.
Digital Pioneer
Summer of Pioneers Homberg (Efze)Six months as a digital pioneer in a small town in northern Hesse — part of a sustainable urban development initiative.
I was one of 20 selected digital pioneers on the 'Summer of Pioneers' program in Homberg (Efze) – a Neulandia initiative for sustainable urban development. Over six months, I explored living and working in a small town in northern Hesse together with other creatives and remote workers: a shared coworking space, concepts to address vacancies in the town center, and cultural events such as open-air cinema and live music. The exchange with the local community led to lasting structures, including the Marktcampus Homberg with coworking and community spaces.
Senior Software Engineer
Gestalt RoboticsLed a 5-person frontend team for Deutsche Bahn's AI-powered rail vehicle inspection system. Built a design system aligned with DB corporate design guidelines.
At Gestalt Robotics, I owned the frontend of a tablet application built for Deutsche Bahn's AI-powered inspection system, enabling workshop mechanics to efficiently triage and document visually detected defects on rail vehicles. I led a five-person frontend team within a project of roughly 20 to 25 people overall – with full ownership of architecture decisions, code reviews, planning, onboarding of new team members, and coordination with UX/UI design and stakeholders. A central deliverable was building a new, extensible design system from the ground up that implements Deutsche Bahn's strict corporate design guidelines while ensuring visual consistency across the entire product. The application was built with React, TypeScript, and Redux; real-time coordination between mechanics was handled via WebSockets, and authentication via single sign-on.

Orbit - orbitdigital.deSolo full-stack development of two insurance platforms for Credit Life AG (BaFin-regulated) — B2B application journey and B2C pilot. Next.js, React, AWS.
As a solo full-stack developer at Orbit Digital, I worked in parallel on two platforms for Credit Life AG – a BaFin-regulated European insurer focused on residual credit, disability, and life insurance products: Mobivers, an existing B2B application journey platform for sales partners, which I extended and stabilized; and One-to-Move, a parallel B2C pilot focused on rapid prototyping and UX exploration. I worked closely with a UX/UI lead and a project manager and was responsible for frontend, backend, deployment, and operations on AWS. The stack included Next.js, React, Node.js, Material UI, and Docker; integrating external services (e.g., MailJet) and setting up automated tests with Mocha and Cypress were part of my scope as well.
Senior Software Engineer
Protofy GmbH & Co. KGFrontend focus in cross-functional agency teams: Hausify (property management), DEPOT (e-commerce), Siemens (energy/IoT). React, React Native, TypeScript.
As Senior Software Engineer at Protofy GmbH, I worked across a range of client projects in very different domains, with a focus on frontend development in cross-functional teams. Three formative projects: Hausify, the property management SaaS platform whose early modules I co-developed here – and with which I have had an ongoing freelance engagement since 2021; DEPOT (Gries Deco), where I contributed to the e-commerce frontend and the mobile app; and a Siemens project for managing home battery storage clusters – a system from the energy and IoT space. The stack consistently included React, React Native, TypeScript, and Node.js; depending on the project, AngularJS, Redux, Contentful, MongoDB, and Docker were used as well. My contribution ranged from prototyping to production delivery and included integrating content platforms, APIs, and CI/CD processes.
